I finished these on the weekend. They're part of a little creative spurt that happened recently. Have one more on the go that is almost finished. And as usual, my photography skills suck.

A pretty trendy colour combination, bright blue on chocolate brown, but I like the way they look together.

The colours on this one are really shimmery and iridescent, like an oilslick on a puddle. Picture doesn't do it justice.

You're right. The photo makes it look like a giant pop tart.

I really love both of those. I'm very fond of the stark, straight lines in the midst of the chaotic swirls. I like that contrast. Is that done by masking, then removing the masking material after you've finished applying the contrast color, I assume? It's quite a nice effect.

Yeah, I paint in the background colour, mask out the design, then roughly trowel on the paint and gel medium, then remove the tape while it's still wet. I've taken on newer ones to re-taping the design after it's dry and then adding a new colour on top. The pop-tart one is done that way, with the pinky violet colour in one layer and then the dark blue-black in another layer.

Very nice.. they look like picture windows onto alien landscapes (compliments your writing). I wonder if it would be too contrasty to have circular masks intersecting with the lines, or silhouettes of abstract figures (emerging from the texture/smoke/goo). Definitely a cool style.

It'd also be interesting to see one inspired by one of your stories, like the Nor Winter's Cold.. desolation. That's not a commission though, sorry. :P
