I hate it when you LIKE someone and you know that they like you, but you're not sure if they LIKE you back and you think you're being all unsubtle and obvious, but really you're shy and awkward and don't know how to proceed and you know that they'll never make the first move even if they LIKE you back. You're kind of left with the agonizing "Hey, I kinda LIKE you. How do you feel?" conversation which terrifies you because the thought of them looking at you and saying "Hey, you're nice and everything, but you're completely not worthy of my hot sweaty love mojo, so take a hike. But let's be friends." which is a thought so horrifically awful to comprehend that you just sort of sit, paralyzed and don't know what to do.

Yeah, I hate when that happens.

Thank you for describing my life. I say have the conversation. And I'm pretty sure you told me to have it when I was in that situation, so follow your own advice. Even if it doesn't go the way you plan, time heals awkwardness.

Unfortunately, it's a conversation you have to have sooner or later or one of you is going to assume something about the relationship that isn't so. That can be really embarrassing and disappointing.
