A good day

I had drinks after work with someone I've never spent any one on one time with. I had a good time. It was nice to just sit and talk about things. Kind of like last night with [personal profile] zero_gravity but this was more about discovery, seeing some of what was behind what I usually see.

Then when I got home, I had an email from Marcella Detroit. She used to be one half of Shakespear's Sister, and I found her website last week when that group crossed my mind. I found her site and listened to the songs she has uploaded there. Some I remember from when I owned her CD, Jewel. It was one of the discs that I divested myself of back before the move out here, something I'm kicking myself for now. Anyway, there's a link on the site to send an email, so I did, just saying thank you for all the great music and that I hope she's doing well. It made me smile that she took the time to respond to me. I like sending things to artists I respect and whose work I admire. I don't usually expect them to respond, but it's nice when they do. I sent something back, but usually things end there. But it still made me smile.

Then I watched the latest two episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures, my Doctor Who lite that keeps me going until I get the real thing back again. I really do enjoy watching anything in this newest incarnation of the Whoniverse. SJA is fun, but at the same time, has interesting stories and, despite being aimed at a teen market, still has emotional resonances and good characters. They feel something about what's happening to them and react in human ways, despite the fantastical aspects of the stories.

It was a good day  :)
