Before and after photos of Jessica Alba before and after retouching:

Okay, if Jessica Freakin' Alba isn't hot enough to be in your ads, no one has a chance of a healthy self image

Word. One of my students did her final project on photoshopping of celebrities and body image. Creepy stuff. Have you seen the Dove Evolution ad?

Man that is insane. She looked like a meth ad in the start in comparison to the end!

Hell, that much retouching and photoshopping and I'd look like a supermodel

Funny you should say that... hunt around the related youtube videos. There are some scary examples there, including guys to/from girls. Most of the "fat chick into supermodel" ones leave me thinking "pity, she was cute when they started...". But I'm a freak, I know that.

Yes, but they have very obviously made her thinner and changed the shape of her hips

Oh, for sure. If people quit reading that superficial junk and treating it like it mattered, there'd be no need for it ;)

In the first picture, I totally prefer the "before" to the "after." She's a bit more coy, more mysterious. And I'm not going to lie...she is freakin' hot. (I have been known to play for both teams.)

Cheers,

Bruce

Yeah, the after isn't as good, and not just because it's so artificial

Seconded on all counts (except for the going both ways thing).

Actually I'm not. LOL.

We were discussing this very issue about artificial and unrealistic images in class last week so this definitely warrants further discussion.
