Gesso is like a thick, white paint. It's the fine art equivalent of primer. Gel medium is this thick stuff that dries clear. It's the stuff that gives my paintings that texture. It goes on thick and holds its shape.
It's not a huge crisis, except for the fact it will take years for me to use all that gesso up. I can pop over to the Loomis store on Spadina after work tomorrow and just pick some medium up
