See, as much as I loved Rose, I loved Martha too. Though the Doctor crush was a but wearing, she never let it get in the way of doing what needed to be done. My theory is that they only ever intended for her to be the "rebound girl" and leave at the end. I think the Torchwood gig and the 5 ep return was them scrambling to bring her back when she proved so popular
